The topping-out ceremony marks a significant step forward in the project’s development, bringing Hanoi Takashimaya S.C. into the next phase of construction as it moves closer to its anticipated opening.

Hanoi Takashimaya S.C. is part of Phase 1 of Westlake Square Hanoi, a mixed-use development comprising three basement levels and 10 above-ground floors, with approximately 49,000 square meters of retail and Grade A office space. Located in the Starlake urban area of Tay Ho Tay, Hanoi, the development is designed as a modern retail and office destination that brings together work, shopping, socializing, entertainment and relaxation in one place.

Spanning seven retail floors, Hanoi Takashimaya S.C. is positioned as a key highlight of Westlake Square Hanoi. It will also be the first Takashimaya-branded shopping centre in Hanoi, expected to expand the supply of high-quality retail space in the Tay Ho Tay area while responding to growing demand in the capital for shopping, dining, services and lifestyle experiences.

Hanoi Takashimaya S.C., Phase 1 of Westlake Square Hanoi, tops out in September 2026.

In addition to fashion, entertainment and service offerings, the basement level of Hanoi Takashimaya S.C. is expected to feature an approximately 6,000-square-meter dining destination, bringing the Japanese depachika food hall experience to Hanoi. The development is also planned to incorporate an Onsen facility developed and operated by the Mikazuki brand, creating a distinctive offering at a time when next-generation shopping centers are increasingly placing greater emphasis on experiential retail, wellness and longer customer dwell times.

Alongside construction progress, leasing at Hanoi Takashimaya S.C. has also achieved positive momentum. To date, nearly 75% of the retail space has secured tenant commitments, with the majority of these commitments having progressed to signed leases and deposits. The project continues to refine its tenant mix, aiming to complete the majority of leasing activities by early next year.

A representative of Toshin Development, the project developer, said: “The topping-out milestone brings us one step closer to our goal of bringing Takashimaya to Hanoi. Through Hanoi Takashimaya S.C., we look forward to introducing a new shopping and lifestyle destination that responds to the increasingly diverse needs of the capital’s market.”

Takashimaya is a Japanese retail brand with a history spanning nearly two centuries. In Vietnam, the brand established its presence in Ho Chi Minh City in 2016 with a premium department store in the city’s central District 1. In Hanoi, Hanoi Takashimaya S.C. is scheduled to open at Westlake Square Hanoi in autumn 2027.
